Crash before Falls Creek trip cuts active teen’s life short
LAWTON — The families involved in a wreck Monday east of Lawton that killed 14-year-old Jani Hawkey were headed for the same church youth camp, the girl’s uncle said.

Instead of turning into the church so Jani could catch the bus to Falls Creek Youth Camp, Gina Hawkey decided first to take her daughter to a nearby convenience store for a soft drink, said Kevin Hawkey, Jani’s uncle.
